Mobile Phones for Hearing Aid Wearers

  • We recommend mobile phones rated M4 and T4.  Most providers offer mobile phones with these ratings.  If your provider can not offer a telephone with an M4 and T4 rating, an M3 and T3 is acceptable.
  • Your mobile phone provider can find out the ratings on new mobile phones.  If your rep doesn’t know what the ratings are, we recommend asking for a manager to find out before purchasing a new mobile phone.
  • M-rating: The higher the M-rating the handset has, the lower the radio frequency emissions level and a higher signal quality the handset will have.  If there is no M-rating, the handset does not meet the ANSI standard.
  • T-rating: The higher the T-rating, the higher your chance of success - that the handset will work when coupled with a hearing instrument equipped with a telecoil.
  • We recommend that you test all handsets in the store prior to any purchase.
